When laying flagstone into grass, is it better to cut out the area to be layed…?

...or can I just place the flagstone right on top of the grass?

  2. You can do it either way, but it’s much easier to mow around if you cut out the grass and set it in flush with the ground around it.

  3. if its just a path place on top of grass cut around remove flagstone and remove grass the depth of the stone, this will make it easier to cut the lawn.

  5. Best bet is to remove the grass from the entire region where the flagstone is to go, lay the stone, fill the gaps with soil, and plant new grass. It is much easier than trying to dig holes of appropriate size for individual stones, and you’ll get a level surface.
